Experience

Sherrie Johnson is a full-time freelance writer with a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies and an elementary teaching credential. Her passion for understanding different cultures, perspectives, and how things are done around the world has taken her to fourteen countries, including a period of four years living in the Middle East.

After experiencing the death of an aunt in her early life, then an uncle and beloved grandmother, Sherrie began to take an interest in the services surrounding end-of-life planning, bereavement, and the funeral industry. While traveling overseas, she was given a first-hand look at how people around the world handle death and dying. Before writing for Cake, she wrote for several national radio programs about death, dying, and the afterlife.
