14 Poems for Your First Father’s Day Without Dad
By Amy Wolkenhauer, BA in English/Creative Writing
A father is a friend from the start. Always there to give guidance, love, and support, this is a loss that's felt acutely in all areas of your life.
Losing a father is one of the most difficult experiences anyone will ever go through. The bond between a father and child is an everlasting one, and this will never fade. Coping with this grief and pain is difficult, and you will need the support of your friends and family. Though grief does not take any linear path, you can find your way forward by honoring his memory each and every day.

If you know someone who recently lost their father, it's difficult to find the right words to say. You know nothing you can say will ever be enough, but you should still find a way to offer your support. Whether you share a message of kindness and compassion or help plan a memorable funeral service, you're being there during someone's darkest times. The loss of a father leaves a deep wound, but this is soothed by the presence of friends and family.
