How You Can Delete Your Own Crunchyroll Account

In today’s Internet environment, deleting an account is sometimes a smart choice. It’s a chance to take a step back, or take a break. But can you delete yourself from the Internet? That process is more difficult than you would think. It starts with figuring out the basics for deleting your accounts, one at a time.

Tip: Ensure that your digital accounts are taken care of according to your wishes by making a will. You can easily create one from home with an online will maker like Trust & Will.

Premium or free?

Subscription model sites are all the rage these days. From Netflix to Disney+, everyone is creating digital subscription services. And these sites are very popular. It’s an easy way to pay for a duration of time, rather than a specific service. You’re paying for access, not shows you don’t want to watch. Crunchyroll is no different.

When you sign up, or at any point during your subscription, you can choose to upgrade to a premium membership. That membership will get you access to more games and shows than a basic membership will. Depending on how many streaming accounts you have, this premium membership might be worth the cost.

Before you cancel your account, you have to downgrade to a free membership. The free membership is limited, which might work for you. When you reach this step, it’s important to decide what you want to do. Do you want to cancel your membership entirely, or do you just want to stop paying? If you want to cancel, then you’ll need to follow the steps below.

Finding your login information might be harder than you think! All you need is a username and password. But if you’ve forgotten one or the other, things might get sticky.

The first thing you can try is inputting your username or email. If an account exists with that information, you’ll be able to click the ‘Forgot My Password’ response. Crunchyroll doesn’t use sensitive financial information, so resetting your password should be easy. Once you request to reset your password Crunchyroll will send a link to your email.

Another option is to check your password manager. You might have saved the password to your Crunchyroll account there. And Google will sometimes automatically save passwords. Who knows? Maybe when you set up your account, you requested Google to save it.

If you get lucky, then you can move onto the next step. If not, you can always check other password managers. You might have them written down on paper in a fireproof box or another secure location.

Change your account settings

Once you’ve logged into your account, go to your Premium Member Status page. Scroll down to the bottom. Then, click Change Plan. From there, you’ll be able to select the desired package. You’ll want to change your package from premium to free.

Help page

Once you’ve downgraded to a free membership, you’ll be able to cancel your subscription. Go to the Help Page, then click “Can I deactivate/delete my account?” This will guide you to a page entitled “Nuke.”

This page is where you log in to your Crunchyroll account. Once you’ve logged in, the Nuke page shows you a “Deactivate Account” option.

Close it out

Like most other subscription sites, Crunchyroll doesn’t let you go easily. After all, they need to know why they’re losing a subscriber. That means you’ll need to fill out a form. Luckily, it’s not very complicated, and you should be able to wrap it up in a few minutes.

Once you’ve completed the form, a final pop-up screen will appear. It is asking you if you’re sure you want to close your account. Click “Yes.” Once you do that, your account will be deactivated.

How to Delete a Crunchyroll Account for Someone Who Died

You might be in charge of someone else’s digital legacy. If that’s the case, deleting their accounts from the Internet is important. If you don’t do it, hackers and scammers might be able to get their information. Identity theft is a major problem, even for the deceased.

Protecting your loved one's accounts and identities is an important step to take even after they've passed. This is why we included it in our highly recommended post-loss checklist. Though it takes extra steps, follow this process below to delete your loved one's Crunchyroll account.

Tip: You can continue a loved one's digital legacy with a virtual memorial on a platform like GatheringUs. They even have specialists who can guide and support you through the planning process.

Contact customer support

There’s no easy way to delete a Crunchyroll account without your loved one’s login information. If you don’t have any access to the necessary login information, you’ll need to contact the support team.

If you can delete your loved one’s account with their information, do so. Otherwise, someone at Crunchyroll’s will have to downgrade their membership or delete their account for you. So you’ll need to reach out to the support team. Try to include as much information as you can when you contact them. The more information you provide, the easier it will be to get your loved one’s account deleted.

If your loved one started end-of-life planning, they might have had password managers. If you think that might be the case, it’s worth investigating. A quick search on their computer should show you what passwords they have saved.
