If you’re looking to delete your Poshmark account, here are step by step details on how to do so. We will also give you guidance on what to do if you recently lost a loved one with a Poshmark account.
Tying up any financial loose strings is part of the duties of the executor of the estate. That also includes how to access any money received on the sale of an item. With a Poshmark account, you may also want to remove any items that your loved one had for sale. Here’s how to close one down.
How to Delete Your Own Poshmark Account
Removing your Poshmark app from your phone will not delete your account. You must go through these steps.
Poshmark gives clear instructions on how to delete an account through them. We’ve broken those instructions down in a step-by-step guide. The first set tells you how to delete it from the app. The second tells you how to delete it from their full website.
Before you delete your account from either device, understand that there can’t be any pending transactions or redeemable balances on your account. Make sure all the items you have sold have “cleared” and cash out any of the income you made before attempting to delete the account.
Step 1: Go to your account tab
Make sure to sign into Poshmark on a computer and head directly to your account tab. It’s the circle in the top right corner with your initials. You’ll want to click on the circle, which will make a drop down menu appear.
Step 2: Click on “Account Settings”
The main dropdown menu will have quite a few options, but you’ll want to select “Account Settings” toward the bottom. Once you do, you’ll have a new page displayed with your current profile and a vertical menu on the left hand side.
Step 3: Click on “Manage Account Status”
Before deleting your account, you’ll want to double check that you haven’t left anything unfulfilled, whether it be a pending sale or a purchase you forgot you made. Make sure to delete any payment methods you have saved, just in case. These are all options you can select within the “Account Settings” menu.
In the menu on the left side of your browser window, you’ll see “Manage Account Status” near the bottom. You’ll want to click on that.
Step 4: Select “Delete My Account”
After reviewing your account, you can go ahead and continue with deleting your account. Poshmark provides a handy warning stating that your account and relevant information will be permanently deleted. When you delete your account, you’ll have a message pop up in a smaller window, asking you to verify this change.
They will send a message to your email address with a one-time use verification code, not unlike the ones you see with two-factor authorization. Make sure to type it in exactly, or copy and paste it. Click “Verify.”
Step 5: Give a reason for leaving
After submitting the verification code, Poshmark provides another pop-up message asking you for your reason for leaving. Again, it reminds you that you will lose any and all access to your account, including any redemptions. The pop-up window also provides another little dropdown menu with your reasons for leaving. Click on one of them, and then underneath that, you will see “Delete My Account.”
How to Delete a Deceased Loved One’s Poshmark Account
One of your first tasks as executor is to contact your loved one’s bank and credit card companies to inform them about the death. Contacting these companies can help reduce the likelihood of fraudulent activity on the account. Taking care of this task will also mean that some of your loved one’s accounts will automatically be suspended when automatic payments are not received.
Please be advised that you may need certified copies of the death certificate to take care of several of your loved one’s accounts. A funeral home director can advise you on how to obtain copies of the death certificate.
While Poshmark does not list the need for a death certificate to close an account, it is good to have one handy just in case. If your loved one died unexpectedly, they might have left items for sale on Poshmark or had a balance on their account that they left unredeemed.
Poshmark’s Terms of Agreement does not outline what happens if a seller dies while having items listed on their website. Here are two pieces of advice to consider on how to solve this issue.
Tip: Have you experienced a recent loss? Use our post-loss checklist to navigate these next steps, from handling your loved one's digital legacy to honoring their memory.
Step 1: Try to log into your loved one’s account
If you have access to your loved one’s phone or online account using their password manager, you can log into the account and remove the items for sale.
After removing the items and reviewing any pending sales or purchases, you can follow the steps for deletion as listed above. Consult with an estate attorney if you have any questions before logging in as your loved one on any website.
Step 2: Contact Poshmark’s customer service representatives
It seems like you only have one option on how to contact Poshmark’s customer service team. To send a message through their website, fill out this form here. You do not have to have an account to submit a question. They provide some options within a dropdown menu to help better tag your question, as well as the option to attach a file such as a photo or PDF.
Unfortunately, Poshmark does not publish a customer service phone number, so filling out this form may be your only option of receiving help.
