How to Delete a VSCO Account: Step-By-Step

Updated

There are several ways to delete a VSCO account, each specific to how you initially opened your account. We're going to show you the fastest and easiest methods to get you on your way. Follow along, and we'll take you through the processes step-by-step.

Jump ahead to these sections:

VSCO is a creative platform that enables creators to have better tools, spaces, and connections to drive their platforms and grow while maintaining ownership and control over their content and data rights. Below, we'll show you how to download, correct, and delete the information no matter the reason.

Deleting your data and memberships from VSCO is trickier than most other sites. We recommend that you read through the following pro-tips before you get started:

  • Deleting your account is permanent. This can't be undone.
  • Any images, including mobile or desktop purchases, will also be deleted.
  • Deletion can take time to complete, which means that your data will remain public until the process is complete.
  • Deleting your VSCO account does not mean that you've deleted your subscriptions through Apple or Google. These are separate actions.
  • Also, deleting your account does not mean that you've deleted your membership. This is also a separate action.
  • You can keep your data online but deactivate your account—removing it from public view.
  • According to VSCO policies, regulatory, and legal requirements, some information may not be deleted immediately.

If you're ready to get started, let's go!

How to Delete a Deceased Loved One's VSCO Account

Part of the executor's duties includes managing your loved one's online presence and closing their accounts.

Unless your loved one left a password manager, you'd need to have a .doc or a PDF copy of their death certificate to complete most tasks.

Assuming that you have no access to the VSCO account, there are just a few easy steps you can take to close their account in about 5-10 minutes.

Contact Support and Submit a Ticket

Since you can’t just log on to their account, you’ll need to “submit a ticket” with customer support, which is a fancy way of saying that you’ll send them an email from inside their website.

Step 1: Locate the Support Page

The support page can be found on the VSCO website @ https://support.vsco.co

Note the query box located in the lower right-hand corner of the page. (It looks like a square comment bubble from a Sunday comic.) Click to enlarge.

Now you can use the automated system to "speak" with a virtual assistant.

Step 2: Click through the pop-up answers

Click through the pop-ups in the following order:

  • >>Lost access to VSCO account
  • >>LOST ACCESS TO EMAIL PHONE NUMBER
  • >>I AM A VSCO MEMBER/I HAVE A VSCO SUBSCRIPTION
  • >>CONTACT SUPPORT

Step 3: Fill out the questionnaire

  • Enter your email address (yours, not your loved one's)
  • Enter a description. In this box, write a letter to customer support explaining:
    • Who you are
    • Your relation to the deceased
    • Pertinent information regarding your loved one, such as their email address and phone number – give them the email and phone number you have
  • Answer the question, "Do you have a VSCO Membership subscription?"
  • Answer the question "How can we help?"
  • Answer what operating system you use
  • Attach a copy of the death certificate
  • Click Submit

Pro-tip: If you don't know how to obtain a death certificate, refer to the funeral director who helped with your loved one's services. Otherwise, you can contact your county’s local vital records office for support.

Step 4: Wait for an email

Wait for an email from customer support and make any necessary additions to the support ticket as needed to complete your request.

Pro-tip: Most customer support centers want to make this as easy as possible for you to navigate. So, note that while you may have one email address for your loved one, they could be using another one for this account.

Using VSCO as a Means of Expression

Your loved one used VSCO and other Apps as a means of expression for their art and to connect with communities of like-minded people. But, just because you've chosen to close their account doesn't mean that you can't still share their art with the world.

In the coming months and even on their annual memory days and death anniversaries, you can create solace by finding ways to honor them and keep their memory alive. Honor their legacy as an artist by showing their art and spreading joy in sad times.
